Copymart business models |
 |
 |
Under the basic
'Copymart' model,
| (1) |
a right holder
of a work registers information
on the copyrighted work through
the Internet, as well as sets the
terms and conditions of its use,
and |
| (2) |
a user accesses
and views the registered copyright
information in the 'Copymart', places
an order, and obtains a copy of
the work. |
| (3) |
a Copymart holder
offers to right holders and users
a marketplace for them directly
and individually to deal with.[
The 'Copymart' model] |
The Copymart model is available
not only for copyrighted works but
also with mutates mutandis for information
and any other intellectual properties
which involve copyrights.
CMI facilitates IP distribution
by applying the concept of Copymart
which can be widely applied to constructing
online IP markets for companies
and research institutions distributing
intellectual properties. |

Alternative
Dispute Resolution |
 |
 |
Disputes between
IPR holders and users have been
increasing over issues related to
the use of the Internet, such as
unauthorized reproductions of photos
and images on users' web sites,
or swapping of such works among
users. These problems have to be
resolved without delay in order
for the IP business to be properly
developed.
| (1) |
CMI makes its
members available its ADR-Copymart
when conflicts arises among IPR
holders and administrators, users,
and third parties. |
| (2) |
ADR can offer
solutions to all parties in a dispute.
Through mediation and arbitration,
and links with IPR experts at universities
and in judicial circles, the Institute
aims to resolve such disputes. A
study on measures to prevent disputes
is a particular focus of the Institute. |
